CAT Seeks $1.23 Million From Convention Center to Keep Ferry Running

Chatham Area Transit is asking the Savannah Convention Center for $1.23 million to support the Savannah Belles Ferry, Savannah Agenda reported from the board’s Sept. 22 meeting.

CAT projects a $1.07 million shortfall for the ferry in fiscal 2027, with about $1.04 million in revenue against $2.11 million in operating costs. It is requesting $600,000 a year in ongoing support, and the board discussed possible service reductions.

Staff expect higher demand once the Talmadge Bridge is raised.
