Housing Authority Votes to Buy Back Former Bartow Homes Land From Salvation Army

The Housing Authority of Savannah board voted on Sept. 9 to repurchase a property on the former Bartow Homes site from the Salvation Army, Savannah Agenda reported.

The Salvation Army had a five-year requirement to begin construction, with a deadline of May 12, 2026, and did not do so. The authority kept a right to repurchase at the original price and authorized a closing within 30 days.

Executive Director Evette Hester cited the authority’s responsibility as steward of the land.
