Recreational access at Woodward Reservoir was suspended starting October 16, according to South San Joaquin Irrigation District. The district says there is no timeline for reopening while it works with Stanislaus County on the property and agreements needed to resume recreation.

The suspension follows the end of the county’s recreation operations under a long-standing license agreement. SSJID says the closure applies to camping, boating, hunting, fishing and day use; annual pass holders are also affected.

What visitors should know

Anyone planning a visit should check directly with SSJID before traveling. The district says it will post updates as plans develop and is pursuing options to reopen recreation when practical.
